Baseball Recap: Las Lomas Wins Going Away Against Moreau Catholic

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Las Lomas had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Moreau Catholic Mariners. This was a revenge game for the Knights: when they faced off against the Mariners back in March, they had to take a 6-3 defeat.

Noah Sison was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Las Lomas is 5-1 when Sison allows one or fewer earned runs, but 9-10-1 otherwise. Sison was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

Sison wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cruz Lopez, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Jack Foscalina was another, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Las Lomas has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-11-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Moreau Catholic, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-10.

Coming up, Las Lomas will take on Healdsburg on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Knights 3.9, the Greyhounds 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. Moreau Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
