Baseball Recap: North Garland Wins Going Away Against South Garland

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Sachse, North Garland was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the South Garland Titans. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Titans recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Micah Naidoo and Jose Cuellar were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Naidoo tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Cuellar didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over 4.2 innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. At the plate, Naidoo went 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs, while Cuellar scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That home run marked the first that Naidoo launched this season.

In other batting news, North Garland got a big performance out of Lucas Cheek, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Cheek has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddox Johnson, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

North Garland's win bumped their record up to 4-15-2. As for South Garland, their loss was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-11.

North Garland will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Titans: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
