Softball Game Preview: Modesto Christian Crusaders vs. Gustine Reds

The Modesto Christian Crusaders will square off against the Gustine Reds at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Modesto Christian fell victim to Delhi and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 13-0 to the Hawks. The Crusaders have struggled against the Hawks recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, Gustine came up short against Stone Ridge Christian on Wednesday, falling 18-5. The Reds have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Shandel Aguilera and Jacqueline Chavez did some serious damage despite the final result: Aguilera went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double, while Chavez scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaclynn Lopez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Gustine's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Modesto Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Modesto Christian suffered a grim 12-1 defeat to Gustine when the teams last played back in March of 2019. Can the Crusaders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
