North Moore is 1-9 against Chatham Central since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Mustangs will challenge the Bears at 6:00 p.m. North Moore is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.
If North Moore beats Chatham Central with 15 runs on Thursday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Everything went the Mustangs' way against Central Carolina Academy on Tuesday as they made off with a 15-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won ten contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Macey Jackson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, Kaylee Lindloff was incredible, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Adrianna Patterson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one triple.
North Moore was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .579. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Chatham Central gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Lee County by a score of 12-9. The Bears haven't had any issues with the Yellow Jackets recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Like North Moore, Chatham Central also got a great game from a two-way player: Maeson Smith. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Smith was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Chloe Brewer was a standout: she went 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Madalyn Holton also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
North Moore pushed their record up to 14-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Chatham Central, their record is now 16-2.
North Moore couldn't quite get it done against Chatham Central when the teams last played back in March as they fell 10-6. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
