Baseball Game Preview: Orange Beach Makos vs. Robertsdale Golden Bears

The Orange Beach Makos will take on the Robertsdale Golden Bears at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The last three games Orange Beach has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Orange Beach is headed into the match having just posted their closest victory since March 22nd on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over St. Michael Catholic.

Matthew Hoover spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brayden Hood was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Boyd, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Robertsdale and Foley, and Foley kept the tradition alive. The Golden Bears fell 6-2 to the Lions on Thursday.

Robertsdale dropped their record down to 14-14 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Orange Beach, their victory bumped their record up to 13-9.
