Soccer Game Preview: Bartlett vs. West Aurora

The Bartlett Hawks will venture away from home to face off against the West Aurora Blackhawks at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Bartlett will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any goals on Thursday, then bounced right back against Lake Park on Saturday. The Hawks never let the Lancers get on the board and left with a 4-0 win. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for Bartlett's offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Meanwhile, West Aurora and Aurora East faced off in a cross-town battle on Tuesday. The Blackhawks walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Tomcats. Given West Aurora's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 70th, while Aurora East are ranked 212th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Giselle Perez was the driving force of West Aurora's attack as she scored both of West Aurora's goals, bringing her season total up to 11 goals.

West Aurora's record now sits at 8-2-1. As for Bartlett, they now have a winning record of 4-3-4.

Bartlett came up short against West Aurora when the teams last played back in April of 2019, falling 2-0. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
