Softball Recap: Monday's Loss Ends Royall's Winning Streak

Royall dropped their record down to 11-11 on Monday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Hillsboro Tigers, falling 15-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-5 back in April.

As for Hillsboro, they now have a winning record of 13-12. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won nine games by eight runs or more so far this season.

For Hillsboro's part, Halle Hora spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits.

On the hitting side, Madisyn Herritz and Michelyn Hansen did most of the damage at the plate: Herritz went 4-for-5 with six RBI, three runs, and two doubles, while Hansen got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most stolen bases Hansen has posted since back in April. Harper Sullivan was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Royall does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hillsboro, they will challenge Brookwood at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
