Baseball Game Preview: Metro-East Lutheran Knights vs. New Athens Yellow Jackets

The Metro-East Lutheran Knights will challenge the New Athens Yellow Jackets at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The last three games Metro-East Lutheran has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Metro-East Lutheran's offense. They fell just short of Christ Our Rock Lutheran by a score of 1-0 on Thursday.

Meanwhile, New Athens beat Marissa/Coulterville 4-1 on Thursday.

Carson Lauer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brodie Sieber was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

New Athens pushed their record up to 12-8 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Metro-East Lutheran, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-11.
