Softball Game Preview: Vanlue Wildcats vs. McComb Panthers

Vanlue has gone a perfect 4-0 against McComb recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Wildcats will challenge the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. Vanlue has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the 3rd.

Vanlue came up short against Leipsic on Wednesday, falling 14-4.

Olivia Secord was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last four games she's played. Odessa Musgrave also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, McComb fell victim to Liberty-Benton and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 10-0 to the Eagles. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Vanlue's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for McComb, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Vanlue came out on top in a nail-biter against McComb in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 26-25. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
