League recap: Carson paces 3A North Piedmont with three wins over past week

3A North Piedmont league recap: 3/27/13

Carson had a successful week, as it won three total games to lead the league. The Cougars beat West Rowan 10-0, North Iredell 5-3 and Concord 12-2.

Carson (11-2, 5-1) is riding a league-best 8-game winning streak.

The Cougars' pitching staff had a strong showing this week, allowing only seven hits and two walks, both of which led the league.

Seven batters hit over .400 this week. Leading the pack was Chase Jarrett, who hit .500 by going 3-for-6.

Colby Henderson's four RBIs this week were tops in the league. For the year, he has racked up six RBIs, good for 11th in the league.



Carson's Dillon Atwell threw seven shutout innings in a 5-0 win over the Warriors on Tuesday. He pitched seven scoreless innings and struck out five, while giving up two hits.

Mason Doby drove in four runners on Friday in East Rowan's 10-0 victory over Statesville. He went 2-for-4.
