Two Perfect Game Performances Highlight NFCA MaxPreps Awards for the Week Ending May 9th

MaxPreps NFCA Players of the Week (Week 5/2 - 5/9)

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Seniors Emily Bausher of New Egypt (New Egypt, N.J.) High School, Emily Detz of Columbia (Columbia, Pa.) High School, Kayla English of Fort Worth Christian (North Richland Hills, Texas) High School, Jordan Richwood of Hillsdale (San Mateo, Calif.) High School, and Kaitlyn Scheuering of Eastern Randolph (Ramseur, N.C.) High School have all been named as the High School Players of the Week for their respective regions by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for games played through May 9, 2011.

In the East Region, Bausher pitched three complete shutout victories, including tossing a nine inning perfect game in a 1-0 win over Maple Shade (N.J.). In that game she struck out 21 of the 27 batters she faced. In 23 innings last week, the senior yielded only five hits while striking out 50. At the plate the senior helped her cause with three doubles and 4 RBI. On the year the Bausher is hitting .574 and owns a .76 ERA. The three wins this week helped the Warriors improve to 11-2 overall and 6-0 in conference.

Representing the North Region, Detz pitched her 2nd perfect game of the season in a 13-0 win over Eastern York (Pa.). The senior retired all 17 batters she faced, striking out 10. Detz also threw two shutout victories on the week improving her ERA to .34 on the season. For the year Detz has 164 strikeouts against only 11 walks, and has yet to yield an extra-base hit. So far this season the she is hitting .449 with five doubles, four triples, two home runs and 18 RBI.

In the South Central Region, English tossed two complete game shutouts striking out 29 in the process. The wins improved the Cardinals record to 10-0 in conference and 27-8-1 overall. The senior has started every game this season, and so far owns .48 ERA while holding opponents to a .111 batting average. English has struck out a staggering 498 while yielding only 21 walks in 232 innings pitched.

Representing the West Region, Richwood pitched her team to two shutout victories while striking out 26. On the year the senior owns a .41 ERA and has held opposing hitters to a .080 batting average. In 152 innings pitched the senior has struck out 286 while walking just 23 in 536 batters faced. Richwood's efforts in the circle helped the Knights improve to 21-4 overall and 11-1 in conference play.

From the South Region, Scheuering hit 1.000 with two doubles, two home runs and 10 RBI recording an impressive 2.000 slugging percentage. Her efforts at the plate helped the Wildcats to two victories on the week including a key conference win over Graham. The senior has a .623 batting average on the season with 5 home runs and 28 RBI.
