Basketball Game Preview: Chambers Cougars vs. North Mecklenburg Vikings

Chambers hasn't had much luck against North Mecklenburg recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Chambers Cougars will square off against the North Mecklenburg Vikings at 2:00 p.m. One thing working in Chambers' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 24 games.

Chambers is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top against Myers Park by a score of 70-63. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while the Mustangs are ranked 98th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Tarris Bouie III, who dropped a double-double with 25 points and ten boards. He has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Markus Kerr, who went 5-for-12 to rack up 19 points.

Chambers was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They are 22-4 when they've passed the ball that well.

Meanwhile, North Mecklenburg entered their tilt with Watauga on Friday with three consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with four. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Pioneers 84-48. The Vikings have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 21 contests by 21 points or more this season.

North Mecklenburg's victory was their 27th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 28-3. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 89.7 points over those games. As for Chambers, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-8 record this season.

Chambers didn't have too much breathing room in their game against North Mecklenburg when the teams last played back in February, but they still walked away with a 75-70 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chambers since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
