Soccer Game Preview: Westlake vs. Dripping Springs

The Westlake Chaparrals will head out to take on the Dripping Springs Tigers at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. Westlake's last four matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Westlake is headed into the game without a loss and will look to keep things rolling. Their defense stepped up to hand Del Valle a 1-0 shutout on Tuesday. Given the Chaparrals' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 51st, while the Cardinals are ranked 435th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last contest, Dripping Springs made sure to put some goals up on the board against Del Valle on Friday. They blew past the Cardinals 4-0. Considering the Tigers' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Westlake pushed their record up to 6-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those four matches. As for Dripping Springs, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Westlake beat Dripping Springs by a goal when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 2-1. Does Westlake have another victory up their sleeve, or will Dripping Springs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
