Baseball Recap: Archbishop Riordan's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Archbishop Riordan hadn't done well against Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Crusaders walked away with a 6-3 win over the Fightin' Irish. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Crusaders as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Mason Cohn looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Nathan Zuromski, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Archbishop Riordan is undefeated when Zuromski posts two or more runs, but 2-9-1 otherwise. Jacob Dubriwny was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Archbishop Riordan's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 5-9-1. As for Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Fightin' Irish beat Archbishop Riordan by a score of 4-0 on Friday.
