Football Recap: Bridgeport Central Takes a Loss

Saturday just wasn't the day for Bridgeport Central's offense. They were dealt a 48-0 loss at the hands of the Trumbull Eagles on Saturday. The Hilltoppers haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Anajae Kearney threw for 115 yards on 12 of 23 attempts. William Bramwell was his top target, picking up 82 receiving yards.

Caleb Wuchiski was nothing short of spectacular for Trumbull: he rushed for 48 yards and a pair of TDs, and also threw for 98 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Wuchiski a new career-high in passer rating (138.2).

Bridgeport Central's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Trumbull, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Bridgeport Central and Trumbull could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Connecticut Rankings. The Hilltoppers (ranked 152nd) will meet Darien (ranked tenth) at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Trumbull will square off against Greenwich at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday with a big rank disadvantage (43 vs. 6).
