Football Recap: Sacopee Valley Takes a Loss

Sacopee Valley faced Old Orchard Beach in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Hawks were dealt a 64-14 defeat at the hands of the Seagulls. The loss continues a trend for the Hawks in their meetings with the Seagulls: they've now lost seven in a row.

Brayden Smith threw for 123 yards on nine of 20 attempts. Everett Radley was his top target, picking up 69 receiving yards. On the ground, Maxwell Tripp rushed for 47 yards and one score.

Sacopee Valley's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-3. As for Old Orchard Beach, their victory bumped their record up to 5-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sacopee Valley will face off against Telstar at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Old Orchard Beach, they will take on Lake Region at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Seagulls will be up against the Lakers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 29.6 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
