Football Game Preview: New Canaan Rams vs. Darien Blue Wave

New Canaan is 8-2 against Darien since November of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The New Canaan Rams will face off against the Darien Blue Wave at 3:00 p.m. New Canaan will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.

New Canaan is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Sunday. They took down Newtown 35-20. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but the Rams were the (much) better team in the second half.

New Canaan's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hudson Kenny, who rushed for 112 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries. Kenny's longest rush was for an impressive 59 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Andrew Esposito was another key receiver, gaining 94 total yards and two touchdowns.

New Canaan didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Michael Smith and Mikey Hiraman. What's more, Hiraman also racked up seven total tackles, the most he's had since back in October. Simon Tchakarov was another major factor on D, picking up three sacks and making eight total tackles.

Meanwhile, Darien didn't have too much trouble with Notre Dame on Sunday as they won 35-21. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blue Wave.

New Canaan's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.7 points per game. As for Darien, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.

Everything came up roses for New Canaan against Darien when the teams last played two weeks ago, as the squad secured a 34-0 victory. Does New Canaan have another victory up their sleeve, or will Darien turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
