Basketball Game Preview: Woodruff Wolverines vs. Union County Yellowjackets

Having just played yesterday, the Woodruff Wolverines will get right back to it and host the Union County Yellowjackets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

On Thursday, Woodruff came up short against Chapman and fell 57-44. The game marked the Wolverines' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Union County's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 63-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Chapman.

Woodruff will have to contain Eric Gray as he made an impact in Union County's last game. He went 6 of 10 en route to 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamison Parks, who posted ten points.

Woodruff has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-7 record this season. As for Union County, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 10-8.

Woodruff was able to grind out a solid victory over Union County in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 56-44. Does Woodruff have another victory up their sleeve, or will Union County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
