Klawock extends home winning streak to 16

Recap: Klawock Chieftains vs. Gustavus Foxes

The Klawock Chieftains came tearing into Friday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 57-28 win over Gustavus at home. Klawock has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 22 points or more this season.

Marley Kness was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Klawock's points. Tanner Smith was another key contributor, scoring eight points.

Klawock's win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1. As for Gustavus, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Klawock will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Angoon at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Gustavus, Gustavus and Kake will face off on January 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
