Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Buckeye's Ninth in Last 11 Outings

Buckeye won the last time they faced Westlake and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Bucks blew past the Demons 13-4. The Bucks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by nine runs or more this season.

Buckeye got a great performance from LaRyssa Hartshorn as she tossed 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits.

On the hitting side, Casandra Minarchick was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted over her last 13 matches. Another player making a difference was Eleanor Shaw, who went 4-for-5 with five RBI and two doubles.

Buckeye was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Westlake only posted a batting average of .167.

Buckeye has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-3-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Westlake, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-6.

Looking ahead, Buckeye will be playing in front of their home fans against North Olmsted at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Westlake, they will challenge Rocky River at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Demons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pirates have averaged an impressive 9.8 runs per game this season.
