Basketball Game Preview: Calvary Day School Cougars vs. Southern Wake Academy Lions

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Calvary Day School Cougars duke it out with the Southern Wake Academy Lions at 12:30 p.m. on Friday... Calvary Day School is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 67.7 points per game this season.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Calvary Day School turned things around against New Garden Friends on Tuesday. The stars were shining brightly for them in an 84-67 win over the Bears. The Cougars' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Owen Calvert and Dane Cassada were among the main playmakers for Calvary Day School as the former almost dropped a double-double on 33 points and nine rebounds and the latter posted 30 points in addition to six boards and six steals. The dominant performance gave Cassada a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Keegan, who put up 11 points and five rebounds.

Calvary Day School was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as New Garden Friends only racked up seven assists.

Meanwhile, Southern Wake Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They lost to Cardinal Gibbons on the road by a 70-54 margin.

The victory got Calvary Day School back to even at 6-6. As for Southern Wake Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 10-2.
