Softball Recap: Porter Triumphs

Porter hadn't done well against Edcouch-Elsa recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Cowboys narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Yellowjackets 3-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-3 back in March.

Mia Sosa spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on nine hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gabby Sosa, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Karen Garcia also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Porter's record now sits at 12-8. As for Edcouch-Elsa, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-9 record this season.

As of now, neither Porter nor Edcouch-Elsa have any future games scheduled.
