Baseball Game Preview: Humboldt Vikings vs. Halls Tigers

Humboldt is 2-7 against Halls since March of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Vikings are taking a road trip to challenge the Tigers at 5:30 p.m. Humboldt has given up an average of 15 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Humboldt is headed into Monday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 23rd straight game dating back to last season on Monday. They came up short against West Carroll, falling 16-1.

Meanwhile, Halls had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Bulldogs.

Halls' victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-8. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Humboldt, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-10.

Humboldt suffered a grim 15-4 defeat to Halls when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
