Baseball Game Preview: Pace Vikings vs. Harlingen South Hawks

Pace is 0-5 against Harlingen South since March of 2023 but things could change on Friday. The Pace Vikings will be playing at home against the Harlingen South Hawks at 7:00 p.m. Pace has given up an average of 8.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Pace is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 33rd straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They came up short against Harlingen South, falling 13-3.

For Harlingen South's part, Aundr? Guadarrama made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 4.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts Guadarrama has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Kris Cruz was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Noah Garcia was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Harlingen South always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pace only posted an OBP of .409.

The win (which was Harlingen South's third in a row) raised their record to 5-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Pace, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.
