Baseball Recap: Canterbury Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Canterbury had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Lakeside Christian Lions on Monday. The win was familiar territory for the Crusaders, who have now won four contests in a row.

Braden Adorno made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Brooks Merrill was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Colton Tarver was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Canterbury always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lakeside Christian only posted an OBP of .343.

Canterbury's victory bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Lakeside Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.

Canterbury will face off against Indian Rocks Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Crusaders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season. Lakeside Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
