Volleyball Recap: Santa Barbara Comes Up Short at Home Against Saugus

Santa Barbara unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Saugus Centurions on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Dons in their meetings with the Centurions: they've now lost three in a row.

The final score came out to 25-20, 24-26, 25-14, 25-17.

When it comes to explaining why Santa Barbara lost, don't look at Paylin Marcillac. Despite the final result, she had 14 digs and four aces. Marcillac is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last three games she's played dating back to last season.

Saugus got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Emily Tran out in front who had ten digs and four aces. Another player making a difference was Bailey Posey, who had 18 assists and seven digs.

Looking ahead, Santa Barbara will venture away from home to face off against Mayfield at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Saugus, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Highland at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
