Basketball Game Preview: Holly Wildcats vs. Peyton Panthers

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Wildcats challenge the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Holly has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Peyton will arrive with five straight wins.

Last Saturday, Holly lost to South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] on the road by a 45-28 margin.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Peyton on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 41-16 margin over Harrison.

Peyton's win came from a few key players Holly will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Sammie Nickell, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten boards. She has been hot recently, having posted ten or more rebounds the last four times she's played. Scarlett Clark was another key player, putting up seven points and three steals.

Peyton was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Holly's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Peyton, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Holly came up short against Peyton when the teams last played back in February of 2021, falling 40-30. Can Holly avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
