The Wahkiakum Mules are taking a road trip to challenge the Ocosta Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Wahkiakum is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.

Wahkiakum will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Oakville on Friday. The Mules put the hurt on the Acorns with a sharp 12-2 victory. The win continues a trend for the Mules in their matchups with the Acorns: they've now won three in a row.

Emory Filkowski spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cooper Carlson was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Leitz, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Wahkiakum hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Ocosta came up short against Naselle on Friday, falling 11-1. The Wildcats have struggled against the Comets recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Wahkiakum pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Ocosta, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.

Wahkiakum came out on top in a nail-biter against Ocosta in their previous meeting last Friday, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mules since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
