Baseball Recap: Utica Has No Trouble Against L'anse Creuse North

Utica hadn't done well against L'Anse Creuse North recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Chieftains put the hurt on the Crusaders with a sharp 7-1 victory. Seven seems to be a good number for the Chieftains as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Cam Matuzak was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted over his last five contests. Another player making a difference was Emillio Oddo, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Utica has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-18 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for L'Anse Creuse North, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-17.

Utica has already played their next game, a 14-3 win against Marysville on the 17th. As for L'Anse Creuse North, they will challenge Lake Orion at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
