Cowan and Southern Wells are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Cowan Blackhawks will be playing at home against the Southern Wells Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Southern Wells took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Cowan, who comes in off a win.

Cowan is coming into the game on the come-up as their season has now been buoyed by two straight victories. They strolled past Union with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 57-41.

Lucas Terrell and Brody Clifford were among the main playmakers for Cowan as the former went 10-for-16 to rack up 23 points and five steals and the latter went 6-for-11 on his way to 24 points in addition to five boards and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Clifford has scored at least a third of Cowan's points. Another player making a difference was Gentry Groves, who posted a point along with nine rebounds, six assists, and three steals.

Cowan was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Southern Wells played a tough matchup on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Wes-Del and fell 65-34. The Raiders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-6.

Cowan picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 6-14. As for Southern Wells, they dropped their record down to 1-19 with the defeat, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.

Cowan skirted past Southern Wells 47-44 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Will Cowan repeat their success, or does Southern Wells have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
