Softball Recap: Penquis Valley Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Penquis Valley was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Piscataquis on Monday. The Patriots were the clear victors by a 16-5 margin over the Pirates. With that victory, the Patriots brought their scoring average up to 6.7 runs per game.

Penquis Valley got a massive performance out of Brooklyn Decker, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. That home run was Decker's first of the season. Kalea Gahagan was another key player, going 2-for-3 with seven stolen bases and three runs.

Penquis Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Penquis Valley's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-7. As for Piscataquis, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Penquis Valley will host Maine Central Institute at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Piscataquis, they will be playing at home against Central at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
