Football Recap: Jasper Takes a Loss

Jasper and Liberal squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Jasper had to settle for second. They came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 50-28. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 24-18.

Despite the loss, Jasper still got an impressive performance from Carson Lehman, who rushed for 200 yards and four TDs while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. Lehman is becoming a predictor of the Eagles' success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is 3-1 (and 1-5 when he doesn't).

Elam Beaman produced another solid performance rushing for 187 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries, while also throwing for 82 yards and one TD for Liberal. Another player making a difference was Maddox Miller, who rushed for 69 yards and three scores.

This is the second loss in a row for Jasper and nudges their season record down to 4-6. As for Liberal, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

Jasper does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Liberal, they will square off against Lockwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will need to watch out since the Tigers have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
