League recap: BENSON breaks off league-leading run for Springville

5A Region 6 recap Sept. 26, 2012

Springville's ISAIAH BENSON recorded the longest rushing play in 5A Region 6 this season in his game against Jordan last week. BENSON ran for 65 yards on the play and finished with 77 on the day as his team fell to the Blue Devils.

Jordan moved up to 147 from 209 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 54-14 win over Springville helped Lynn Elkins's team improve its standing.

Walker's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Blake Wilkes threw for 154 and one touchdown and Quadrekas Key had 79 yards receiving. On the ground Kevin Clay chipped in 77 yards. Clay helped Walker's passing attack out by catching three balls for 49 yards.

The Blue Devils' Devlin Hodges and Logan Motte have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Hodges has thrown for 525 yards this season, while Motte, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 18 catches for 237 yards. Keith Maple's team's BENSON leads the league in rushing yards with 304.

Center Point was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to second in 5A Region 6. The Eagles vanquished Moody 28-10 earlier in the week.
