Softball Game Preview: Bonduel Bears vs. Wittenberg-Birnamwood Chargers

The Bonduel Bears are taking a road trip to take on the Wittenberg-Birnamwood Chargers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Bonduel barely beat Crivitz the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bears put the hurt on the Wolverines with a sharp 13-3 victory on Saturday. The win continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Wolverines: they've now won four in a row.

Bonduel got a massive performance out of Lizzy Delzer, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Haley Conradt, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.

Bonduel always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .655. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crivitz only posted an OBP of .261.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wittenberg-Birnamwood). Everything went their way against Three Lakes/Phelps on Saturday as they made off with a 14-4 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Chargers.

Rory Salvesen was a standout: she scored four runs and stole five bases while going 4-for-4. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Brieleigh Ladika was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-5.

Bonduel's record now sits at 3-1. As for Wittenberg-Birnamwood, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bonduel hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .468. However, it's not like Wittenberg-Birnamwood struggles in that department as they've averaged .342. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Bonduel couldn't quite get it done against Wittenberg-Birnamwood when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 8-5. Can the Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
