Softball Recap: Midland Comes Up Short

Midland easily dispatched San Angelo Central last Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Midland fell just short of the Midland Legacy Rebels by a score of 5-3 on Tuesday. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rebels apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Malayah Carillo was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over 6.1 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February.

At the plate, Midland saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emeri Ream, who scored a run while going 1-for-1. Avrey Ochoa also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Midland's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 21-4. As for Midland Legacy, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.

Coincidentally, Midland and Midland Legacy will both be playing Frenship the next time they take the field. Midland will host Frenship at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while Midland Legacy will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
