Baseball Game Preview: Scott Skyhawks vs. George Washington Patriots

The Scott Skyhawks will head out to square off against the George Washington Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Scott 3.7, George Washington 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Tuesday, Scott made easy work of Tolsia and carried off a 16-3 victory. The win continues a trend for the Skyhawks in their matchups with the Rebels: they've now won five in a row.

Louden White was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Carter McClung, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.

Scott was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March.

Meanwhile, George Washington had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. Everything went their way against Parkersburg South as they made off with a 9-2 victory. The result was nothing new for George Washington, who have now won 12 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

George Washington pushed their record up to 19-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Scott, their win bumped their record up to 19-6-2.

Scott beat George Washington 9-4 in their previous matchup back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Skyhawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
