Preview: Greenwood Bulldogs vs. Pulaski Academy Bruins

The Greenwood Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Pulaski Academy Bruins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Greenwood sitting on eight straight victories and Pulaski Academy on four.

Greenwood can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They claimed a resounding 56-20 win over Russellville at home. Given Greenwood's advantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas football rankings (they are ranked fifth, while Russellville is ranked 49th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Greenwood found their leader in underclassman Kane Archer, who rushed for 175 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.3 yards per carry, and also threw for 199 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.9% of his passes. Brayedan Davis and his 109 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Greenwood's win.

Meanwhile, even though Greenbrier scored an imposing 31 points on Friday, Pulaski Academy still came out on top. Pulaski Academy walked away with a 42-31 win over Greenbrier.

It was another big night for Brandon Cobb, who threw for 366 yards and four touchdowns. Cobb is on a roll when it comes to passing yards, as he's now passed for 300 or more in the last four games he's played. William Svoboda did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 90 receiving yards.

Greenwood's win was their eighth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for Pulaski Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.

We should be in store for an exciting game Friday as Greenwood and Pulaski Academy have no problem gaining yardage. Greenwood has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 463.2 total yards per game. However, it's not like Pulaski Academy struggles in that department as they've been even better at 535.9 per game. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.

Greenwood came up short against Pulaski Academy in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 42-35. Can Greenwood avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
