Recap: Woodsboro Eagles vs. Mathis Pirates
There's no place like home for the Woodsboro Eagles, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Mathis 48-21 at home. For Woodsboro, this counts as revenge for the 87-18 loss Mathis walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2018.
Woodsboro can attribute much of their success to Jaqulynn Tully, who scored 26 points along with 7 steals and 5 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Tully has scored at least 25% of Woodsboro's points. Aniya Zena was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 7 rebounds and 5 steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Mathis struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Woodsboro pulled down 24.
The win got Woodsboro back to even at 3-3. As for Mathis, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Woodsboro will head out on the road to face off against Karnes City at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mathis, they will square off against George West at 10:30 a.m. on November 30th.
