Basketball Recap: St. Augustine Falls Short Against Ranked Holy Cross

On Friday, St. Augustine faced Holy Cross in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The St. Augustine Purple Knights took a 51-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Holy Cross Tigers. The Purple Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

St. Augustine's loss dropped their record down to 22-4. As for Holy Cross, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 21-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Augustine will head out to square off against Edna Karr at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Holy Cross, they will head out on the road to challenge Archbishop Rummel at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Archbishop Rummel is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.5 points per game this season.
