Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Paige Smith and Tyla Pugmire Lead Rich to Victory

Rich lost to South Summit back in August of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Rebels came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 3-1.

The victory didn't come easy: South Summit scored at least 19 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 26-24, 21-25, 25-19.

Rich was led to victory by Tyla Pugmire and Paige Smith. Pugmire had 11 digs, while Smith had 19 digs and five aces. Those 11 digs gave Pugmire a new career-high.

Rich pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for South Summit, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Rich will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against St. Joseph at 7:30 p.m. on September 4. South Summit has already played their next game (against Juab), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
