Baseball Recap: Springstead Takes a Loss

Springstead extended their losing streak to six on Friday, dropping them down to 4-12. They fell 4-1 to the Cypress Creek Coyotes. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 11-7 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2021.

As for Cypress Creek, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games.

For Cypress Creek's part, Cooper Neale spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up eight Ks. Neale also tossed a walk, which is notable because the Coyotes are undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 6-7 otherwise.

At the plate, Gavyn Mullis was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Jason Olds, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Coming up, Springstead will be playing in front of their home fans against Anclote at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cypress Creek, they will take on Carrollwood Day at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
