Baseball Recap: Jackson Comes Up Short

Jackson extended their losing streak to eight on Monday, dropping them down to 8-21. They lost 10-0 to the Lincoln Railsplitters. The Vikings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Railsplitters apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2021.

Jackson saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Spencer Bush, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases. Bush has become a key player for the Vikings: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 6-20 otherwise.

As for Lincoln, they moved to 4-15 with that win, which also ended their six-game losing streak. That ten-run margin sets a new team best for them this season.

On Lincoln's side, Vincenzo Miano was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave Miano a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Jackson Sullivan was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Charlie Harding was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

While Jackson had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
