Soccer Recap: Warwick Comes Up Short

Warwick lost against Smithfield back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Raiders lost 6-1 to the Packers. While losing is never fun, Warwick can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 171st, while Smithfield are ranked 23rd).

Warwick's goal came courtesy of Abdul Mokhtar, who's now up to 12 this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Warwick and nudges their season record down to 4-6-1. As for Smithfield, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Warwick will take on Denbigh at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Warwick will be up against Denbigh's rather soft defense (which has allowed 3.7 goals per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Smithfield, they will face off against Tabb at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
