Softball Recap: Harrison County Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Harrison County faced Montgomery County in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Thorobreds/Fillies were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Indians. The Thorobreds/Fillies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 17 games by seven runs or more this season.

Isabella Persinger and Shyanne Ross made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Persinger pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Meanwhile, Ross struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances. At bat, Persinger went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double, while Ross went 1-for-4 with one home run. That's the most hits Persinger has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Aleigha Newby was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Allison Dye was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Harrison County's victory was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 23-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Montgomery County, they moved to 9-2 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.
