Football Recap: Plant City Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Plant City can now relate to. They took a 19-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Durant Cougars on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 281st, while the Cougars are ranked 121st).

Alyssa Valerio threw for 130 yards and one touchdown. Natalee Francis was her top target, picking up 46 receiving yards.

A big part of Durant's win came down to the chemistry between Lia Cobbs and her top target Layla White. Cobbs threw for 160 yards and three TDs while completing 76.9% of her passes while White picked up 58 receiving yards and a pair of scores. That's the most passing touchdowns Cobbs has posted over her last eight matchups.

Plant City is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11. As for Durant, they moved to 8-6 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Plant City does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Durant, they have already played their next game, an 8-7 win against George Jenkins on the 15th.
