Softball Recap: Marin Catholic Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Marin Catholic and Petaluma squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Marin Catholic had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 5-3. If the Wildcats were looking for revenge after losing 4-0 to the Trojans when the teams met back in March of 2018, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Malliah Foster spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits.

At the plate, Morgan Carlson was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Anna Held was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Marin Catholic's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-8. As for Petaluma, their victory bumped their record up to 17-8.

As of now, neither Marin Catholic nor the Trojans have any future games scheduled.
