Preview: West Orange Warriors vs. Eustis Panthers
The West Orange Warriors's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Eustis Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on January 18th. Hopefully West Orange focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Monday.
West Orange posted their biggest win yet this season on Monday. Everything went their way against Olympia as West Orange made off with a 54-31 victory. Given West Orange's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while Olympia is ranked 365th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
West Orange can attribute much of their success to Zulmalyz Sanchez, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Sanchez scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jadid Polanco, who scored eight points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 55 points the game before, Eustis were a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They fell 32-25 to Mount Dora Christian Academy. Eustis has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
West Orange's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Eustis, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 9-8.
West Orange couldn't quite finish off Eustis when the teams last played back in December of 2022 and fell 63-60. Thankfully for West Orange, Tanaujeah Brown (who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 14 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
