Softball Game Preview: Hermitage Panthers vs. L.C. Bird Skyhawks

The Hermitage Panthers will challenge the L.C. Bird Skyhawks at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Hermitage managed to slip by Maggie Walker the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Panthers lost 18-9 to Maggie Walker two weeks ago. Panthers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against Maggie Walker since two weeks ago.

Meanwhile, L.C. Bird was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against James River Midlothian, falling 21-5. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

L.C. Bird saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Klemm, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Another was Jaliyah Hrbowski, who scored a run and stole two bases.

L.C. Bird's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Hermitage, their defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-3.

Everything went Hermitage's way against L.C. Bird in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, as Hermitage made off with a 12-2 win. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Skyhawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
