Volleyball Recap: San Joaquin Memorial Takes a Loss

San Joaquin Memorial lost against Buchanan back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Panthers lost 3-0 to the Bears. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Panthers have suffered since September 10, 2024.

San Joaquin Memorial took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-15, 25-22.

When it comes to explaining why San Joaquin Memorial lost, don't look at Sarah Villalvazo. Despite the final result, she had 17 digs and four assists. Taylor Emmett also deserves some recognition as she had her first dig of the season.

Buchanan got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Rylie Ramirez out in front who had 18 digs and two aces. What's more, Ramirez posted three assists, the most she's had over her last six contests.

San Joaquin Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Buchanan, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 17-1.

San Joaquin Memorial has already played their next match, a 3-1 victory against Fresno Christian on the 4th. As for Buchanan, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 defeat against Centennial on the 4th.
