Recap: Valley Vikings vs. Strasburg Indians

The Valley Vikings suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Saturday. They were beaten by Strasburg 56-29. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Valley has suffered against Strasburg since January 25, 2018.

When it comes to explaining why Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Nevaeh Jimenez. Despite the final result, she scored nine points along with 13 rebounds and two steals. Jimenez is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Peyton Savolt was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.

Valley struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Strasburg racked up 14 assists.

Peighton Marrero was her usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with six steals for Strasburg. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Marrero has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Natalie Damron, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.

Valley has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. As for Strasburg, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Valley will face off against Eaton at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Eaton is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 54.5 points per game. Strasburg will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Platte Valley at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th. Platte Valley has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 2.
